First-person shooter with a mix of open world and horror – Metro: Last Light Redux is one of the most iconic games in all of history. With a quite realistic turn-based plot, the developers were able to confidently convey the spirit and atmosphere of the post-apocalypse, which is quite likely in our reality. The author of the book series, Dmitry Gukhovsky, was the screenwriter for this game, where the fate of the main character and the Black family continues. Artyom destroys a hive of «Blacks».

After that, a year has passed. The hero can’t calm down at the thought of a destroyed faction. The entire Sparta squad has moved to D6. After a while Khan tells Artem that one «Black» has survived, and asks the protagonist to save him, but Melnik orders him to kill the dark.

After that we see Anna and Artem go to kill the very «Black» who has become the Melnik’s cherished idea, and during the meeting the protagonist recalls how he bombed the Black’s lair, but it was this child who managed to survive.

Reich soldiers burst in abruptly, Artem and Black are taken to the Metro. It’s the year , and the graphics are perfect in their execution. Post-apocalyptic Moscow is done in the best traditions of the world, where now man is not even mentioned as the old master. The developers have put together a perfect storyline to show us the internal struggle of the heroes and the external resistance against the mutants and other factions. There are also plenty of moral and ethical dilemmas in the game that we have to take part in.

Survival Horror Metro: Last Light Redux has a new graphics engine, but the controls and game mechanics have been noticeably improved. In 10 hours of gameplay we will manage to collect a lot of weapons, upgrade them, kill a bunch of Reich soldiers, sneak through unexplored tunnels of Moscow Metro, and learn many facts about the history of «Sparta» as a faction that, as it turns out, there is not much truth in it to die for.

Metro: Last Light Redux is an action game with enormous 3D dimensions, that has been created in the first person shooter genre.

Go to the apocalypse-ravaged world, where you will begin to make your own history, while struggling to preserve your own life. In this part you will have to play the role of the main character named Artem, who is trying to do his best to survive in brutal conditions.

The graphics are much better, and the bleak setting is oddly beautiful. A lot of effort went into the map design. I wish they hadn’t added background music to the combat, as that takes away from the atmosphere. It would have been better to leave the odd radio running in the distant room like the first Metro did. The combat is a bit more fluid than the first one, but also much easier. I beat the game once so far, and I switched the difficulty to hardcore early in my playthrough because normal was too easy.

Even on hardcore Artyom can withstand a grenade blast and more than twice as many hits as enemy humans. Your worst enemy in the game is, as usual, lack of gas masks. IMO, they’re a little bit too scarce, and you can’t stop to enjoy the scenery when you’re running towards the next filter. Overall I don’t regret my purchase, and I hope Deep Silver makes more of these games. However, I wish the game had a bit more RPG elements.

A few side-quests would really add a lot. A nasty, shameless trick to make a tiny game seem like it has a big story! What’s with the endless swarm of monsters u idiots? And what’s that stupid white flash in pitch dark blinding my eyes?
