The engineering process is a series of steps that individuals (engineers, developers, scientists) use to create a product or solution. These products or solutions are usually used in everyday life and may solve problems that consumers or users experience.

The process begins by students defining the issue, researching it, and identifying any requirements. Then, they brainstorm ideas and consider what other people have done to solve a similar problem.

After a list is created, the students choose the most promising solution and create a model. This step shows students that they have accomplished a lot and they can see their idea turn into a real solution.

Once the students have built their prototypes, they test them to determine if they work as they expect. They can also use the prototypes to make improvements to their designs.

It is likely that they will go through several prototypes before achieving a design which works and is completed. This iterative approach teaches them to never stop improving their designs.

The process of engineering can be used to solve problems throughout a student’s life, whether they decide to become engineers. They can apply the skills they learn to any project, from building skyscrapers to making sneakers.
